Discover The Diversity of Planet Bordeaux Wines This Holiday Season

Planet Bordeaux, representing Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur, is where you can find the ideal wines for holiday pairing and gifting this season, according to renowned sommelier Michael Madrigale. “The holidays are a time that celebrates a wide assortment of dishes – and Planet Bordeaux truly has the most diverse selection. These delicious wines will surely suit all types of palates this season.”

Planet Bordeaux is the largest winegrowers group in France and is made up of 7 AOC’s: Bordeaux Blanc, Bordeaux Supérieur Blanc, Bordeaux Rosé, Bordeaux Clairet, Bordeaux Rouge, Bordeaux Supérieur, and the sparkling Crémant de Bordeaux. It represents 55% of the Bordeaux wine region (59,034 Hectares / 387 million bottles in 2014).

“For an aperitif, have a sparkling Crémant with passed canapés. For something special, try pairing meat courses with a luscious Bordeaux Clairet – a darker rosé with more body. Bordeaux Rouge and Bordeaux Supérieur with their supple textures and plummy flavors are perfect for richer dishes in sauce. From reds, whites and rosés, there’s fantastic value throughout – and they’re all terrific for the holidays,” added Madrigale.

If you’re looking for the ultimate gift, try a bottle of Bordeaux Blanc paired with Calvisius Caviar, an exquisite Italian caviar. Bordeaux Blanc is expressive and optimizes the intensity of flavors – it goes effortlessly with a smooth and slightly nutty White Sturgeon caviar, for example. Excellent as a gift for the boss or an elegant appetizer for a holiday party.

Planet Bordeaux, the U.S. marketing program of the Bordeaux & Bordeaux Supérieur AOCs Winemakers’ Association, represents all wines produced in the regional appellations. Planet Bordeaux’s new generation of winemakers offer fresh ways for people to rediscover and enjoy high-quality, terroir-driven and accessibly priced wines from Bordeaux, the world’s capital of fine wine.
