Eagles Looking Sold in Training Camp

During the 2016 NFL season, the Philadelphia Eagles looked like they would be one of the top teams in the league all year. Their quarterback, Carson Wentz, was just a rookie but already looked like he couldn’t be stopped. However, after a very hot start to the season, the team quickly cooled and ended up losing the majority of their games late in the year. Ultimately, they ended up winning 7 games and losing 9, which put them in last place in their division. This year, the team and their young quarterback look like they will be ready to take a big step forward (https://www.bleedinggreennation.com/2017/8/20/16175918/eagles-training-camp-practice-notes-carson-wentz-alshon-jeffery-red-zone-philadelphia-fantasy-news).

During the preseason and training camp, Carson Wentz has looked like he has a better command for the offense and is teaming well with some of the free agents that the team has signed. The Eagles made a very big move this offseason when they were able to sign wide receiver Alshon Jeffrey. Jeffrey had previously spent his whole career playing for the Chicago Bears. While in Chicago, Jeffrey had a couple Pro Bowl seasons and looked like one of the best big play receivers in the league. Thus far, Wentz and Jeffrey look like they will be able to put together a combination that will be tough to spot.

On the other side of the ball, the Eagles are continuing to look a bit tougher. A few weeks ago, the Eagles were able to make a trade for cornerback Ronald Darby. Darby was considered one of the top play making cornerbacks in the league. In his first week with the Eagles, Darby already looks like he has the talent to help the Eagles stop some of the top offenses in the league. The Eagles also spent their first three picks on defense, which will give the team a lot of depth.

Overall, the Eagles look like they should be able to compete in their division well. While they finished in last place, the team finished with nearly a .500 record and looked solid in many of their losses. They do compete in the NFC East, which is routinely the toughest division in the NFL. The Eagles should be able to win more games this year if Wentz is able to get better. Due to the fact that they finished in fourth place last year, the Eagles will have the easiest schedule in their division, which hopefully will provide a couple likely wins.
