The global aesthetics medical market is expected to become a $19.4 billion-dollar industry by the year 2023. It is big business, and for good reason. As technology becomes more advanced and more consumers become aware of the many health benefits of these procedures, this industry will continue to grow and expand. Dr. Mark McKenna, who has been involved in this industry for many years, has decided it is time to transition the industry out of the traditional, clinical setting, and into a more appealing environment. His new venture, OVME (pronounced “of me”) is truly reinventing elective healthcare. OVME is like luxury meeting a medical spa and it will open its first boutique building in the popular Buckhead District of Atlanta, GA on March 1st of this year.
Who is Dr. Mark McKenna?
Before we go further into what makes OVME so different from other cosmetic procedure facilities, let’s first talk about the innovative doctor behind this new concept. Dr. McKenna is a medical doctor licensed in surgery and medicine by both Georgia and Florida State Board of Medical Examiners. He received his medical degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, the same city that he grew up in. Dr. Mark McKenna also earned his MBA in college.
After completing his coursework, he practiced medicine with his father (who is also a doctor) and started his very first company, focused on real estate investing. He also acquired and launched a mortgage lending and title company and had 50 employees between the companies.
However, tragedy struck in 2005. Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans devastating much of the city and Dr. McKenna’s companies. FEMA estimated that the hurricane caused over $108 billion in damage to the city. As a dedicated servant of the community, Mark McKenna worked to help rebuild his hometown by redeveloping housing for both low and middle-income residents of New Orleans. He served on the New Orleans Industrial Development Board and also New Orleans Jazz Festival Committee.
Dr. McKenna then moved to Atlanta, GA in 2007 and opened ShapeMed. This state-of-the-art wellness center provided cosmetic procedures and treatments for its patients such as Juvederm, Botox, and Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT). Dr. McKenna served as founder and CEO of ShapeMed for seven years, then sold the company to the Minneapolis-based fitness chain, LifeTime Fitness in 2014.
Dr. Mark McKenna chose to sell his company because he felt like both LifeTime and ShapeMed were targeting the same demographic and it seemed like a natural fit. However, he remained on with ShapeMed and was the National Medical Director for LifeTime fitness for the next two years. Then, in July of 2017, Dr. McKenna founded OVME.
THE OVME CONCEPT
Dr. McKenna’s newest venture combines his passion for entrepreneurship and his love of helping people to look and feel their best. OVME goes way beyond the cold, clinical feeling of a medical clinic and is even more inviting and luxurious than your typical medical spa. It is a 15,000 square foot boutique facility designed to deliver a uniquely curated experience for its patients.
According to Dr. Mark McKenna, OVME will leverage technology to offer services that deliver precise results. OVME will offer a variety of services for both male and female clientele including dermal fillers like Juvederm and Restylane, micro needling, facial services using neurotoxins such as Botox or Dysport, body services, and DNA guided weight management and other wellness services. Men can also elect to have testosterone replacement therapy or PRP for hair loss.
Additionally, OVME will have its own downloadable app for both iPhone and Android users. So, anyone can easily schedule an appointment.
Dr. Mark McKenna has also made memberships to OVME available. There are two levels of membership and members will receive special discounts on services. Members at both the ACCESS and ELITE level can receive free weekly B12 shots, special pricing and access to exclusive events, and guaranteed same-day Botox appointments. ELITE members will also receive a free monthly OVME Signature Peel and Express Facial.
THE OVME Experience
In addition to receiving premium services by a highly-skilled team, OVME is an overall inviting experience. The building is beautiful and aesthetically appealing in its own right. Inside the waiting room, it is peaceful, serene, and luxurious. There is a living wall filled with beautiful plants and greenery for clients to feast their eyes on. Or, they can shop while they wait and purchase one of the many therapeutic grade skincare products offered at OVME.
When it is time for their treatment or procedure, clients will go into one of four elegantly gorgeous rooms or head to a separate area for their private consultation. The experience is designed to feel comfortable and luxurious – so that clients can feel like their cosmetic treatments are truly a treat and not a chore. The OVME experience is one that its customers will want to come back to again.
The first location will open at 3167 Peachtree Rd NE in the Buckhead area this March; however, more locations are expected to open in the future.
OVME and Make-A-Wish Foundation
A portion of the proceeds from purchases at OVME will go directly to the Make-A-Wish Foundation according to Dr. Mark McKenna. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a 501-non-profit organization dedicated to granting a “wish” to children between the ages of three and seven who are facing a life-threatening illness.
Because of its dedicated volunteers, sponsors, and donors, like Dr. Mark McKenna, the Make-A-Wish Foundation is able to grant a wish to a child every 34 minutes. These children’s wishes could be anything from taking a trip to Disney World or another favorite theme park, watching their favorite sports team play a game, or even seeing snow for the first time.
So, when guests and members receive services at OVME, not only can they feel good about their own results, they will leave knowing that their procedure also helped to raise funds to grant a terminally ill child their wish.
