Now, the season is over
December 11, 2007

I was the one that felt the season wasn't officially over because they were in a weak conference. But they kept losing conference games and division games and even if they get to 8-8, they will lose all the tiebreakers because of those losses.
Maybe it's time to look towards the future, and maybe that means Kevin Kolb. This is the first December game that McNabb has played in since the Eagles played the Rams back in 2004 when we were the #1 seed and on our way to the Super Bowl.
Well, there won't be any Super Bowl this year because maybe this team just isn't that good. We thought that they weren't playing up to their potential but they've been doing nothing but losing and the only team they've beat in the last 4 weeks have been the winless Miami Dolphins. And I think my high school football team could beat them.
Now, as we start to look towards next season, they can take a couple of good things from this season. Brian Westbrook is now one of the top three running backs in the league, second maybe to just Tomlinson. The run defense has gotten way better mainly because of Mike Patterson and Brodrick Bunkley. Kevin Curtis has been better than everyone expected him to be with nearly 1,000 yards receiving.
Another bright spot has been Sheldon Brown, who has proved to be our shut down corner and in my opinion it seems like Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown trade seasons. I don't remember them having a full excellent season in the same year. One year Sheppard has a good year, than the next Brown has a good year, and I think you know where I'm going with this.
There are also some bad things to take from this season. Reggie Brown is inconsistent, Sean Considine can't cover anybody, L.J. Smith is inconsistent and probably won't be here next year, Darren Howard and Jevon Kearse were a waste of money, McNabb can't stay healthy, and their special teams (return game and coverage) needs to improve dramatically.
Next year maybe we'll be good because I don't think the Philly fans can take another losing season from this team. We were so used to winning with this team that we're not used to this kind of season since McNabb and Reid has been here.
They just have to forget about this year (like they did with 2005) and start with a clean slate next year. And we, the fans, what else can we do until September next year? We can either watch the Flyers or the Sixers? So you can choose yourself.
