Eagles not playing well, but the Phils are actually in the playoffs!!!!

October 2 , 2007 | By Khristian Peel | Discuss

We don't have to worry about the Eagles playing for two weeks because they have their bye next week. Now, you would think that is a bad thing because Philly fans couldn't go two whole weeks without one of their teams playing a game. But that changed because of one pitch by Brett Myers.  That strikeout not only ended the game, but won the division for them knowing that the Mets lost already.

Now that pitch that Myers threw to end the game will be stuck in my head for a while. Well, at least until they get put out of the playoffs and then I will be another disappointed Philly fan. But I really believe that they can at least get to the World Series.

But a lot of Philly fans are saying that "as long as they get to the playoffs, I will be satisfied because they haven't been there in 14 years", but everyone knows we don't feel that way. We want to win a World Series as much as the players do, if not more. Because when the athletes lose, they still go home to their mansion and their hot wives, but we hate our teams losing because we still have to get up and go to work the next day.

But the Phils can win this if they can get their bullpen together for the postseason. What a great season it was though. After a 4-11 start, they went 85-62 the rest of the way. And if Jimmy Rollins doesn't win the MVP award this year, it will be the biggest rob since that Temple touchdown being taken away a couple of weeks ago.

He's the one that said they were "the team to beat" and they beat the Mets 10 out of 16 games so they kind of backed it up, and even though they only had the division lead for one day, it was the day that mattered, the last day. They won the division on the last day of the season and it couldn't have happened in a better way. The Mets collapse late in the season, we win it at home on a strikeout with the batter looking.

You just can't script this kind of stuff.

They have to play the same way they have been playing all year. Well, maybe not all year because they haven't been the best team all year. Ok, if they just play the way that they played the Mets, they'll be OK.

This is just unreal the way they won this division, it feels so good to finally make it over that hump, and even though they haven't done anything yet, Philly fans will be happy as ever.......well at least until Wednesday, because of they lose, this won't mean anything.
