The Phillies will win the World Series! I said it, I feel it, and I believe it! Am I insane? Of course not, I am simply working “The Secret” in an effort to achieve something I have desired since 1981, a Phillies World Series Championship.
If you have not read “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne or seen the DVD, then I urge you to take the time to understand this phenomenon. It is simple, we attract what we think and believe. If we act like something has already occurred and feel the emotions associated with this occurring, then the universe assures things will align to make what we desire happen.
As an individual I work “The Secret” daily by waking up each morning to an overwhelming feeling of happiness thinking about celebrating a Phillies World Championship. I can actually visualize Citizen’s Bank Ballpark filled to capacity with screaming, faithful Phils fans. I can see the 80 year-old woman with her Phillies cap on jumping up and down, the diehard South Philly guy with tears streaming down his face because their team, our team, accomplishes the one thing that has alluded this city for over 20 years, a championship! Additionally, I constantly tell anyone who will listen that the Phillies will win the World Series. I do not allow their doubts to sway me, rather I remain confident in my beliefs and walk away with a feeling of, “you will see!” Third, I surround myself with images of the Phillies in successful situations, pictures of the Phillies celebrating after a hard fought win, the 1980 Phillies DVD, and pictures from their 1993 successful season.
So, what can you do to assist me in my efforts? First, banish those negative, doubtful thoughts from your heads. When we are up by 1 run going into the 9th, have faith we will win the game. Actually visualize the win prior to it happening! Feel the feelings associated with us defending our lead. Second, begin believing the Phillies have already won the World Series! Feel the emotions associated with a championship: the pride, the joy, and the excitement. Visualize the victory parade in Philadelphia, the fireworks, the smiles, and the energy! Surround yourself with images that promote these feelings! Here’s a wild thought, maybe phillypurge.com should change their ticker from the time since our last championship to the time until our next championship and actually have a countdown to the World Series or a countdown of the number of games it will take for the Phillies to clinch their division. Instead of belaboring issues with ownership and lack of money spent, let’s focus on positives. Let’s celebrate each homer Ryan Howard hits, each stolen base Jimmy Rollins acquires, and the fact that Cole Hamels ranks among the best pitchers in the NL right now! As Phillies fans, we have a lot we can focus on that is positive therefore we need to direct our energy towards our strengths and away from our weaknesses. “The Secret” dictates that we manifest what we think most about. It is my opinion we are focusing way too much on the negative, which is what we end up getting each year. Let’s be honest, broadcasters nationwide criticize Philadelphia sports fans for being excessively negative and hard on our teams. Just think if we can bottle up all that energy we spend on frustration (booing, ranting, etc) and turn that into positive energy. Instead of buying the t-shirt with the skeleton on it that states, “waiting on a Philadelphia championship,” why not create a shirt that says Philadelphia Phillies: World Champions 2007!
Change is never easy, especially when we are talking about changing a pattern of thought that has probably been a part of us for quite some time. But, after reading the success stories presented in the “The Secret” book and DVD, I certainly think it’s worthwhile to try! I challenge each of you to start the process of changing your thoughts from negative to positive. Create a vision board in your office and/or home, which displays images of the Phillies being successful. Actually make a banner on your computer declaring the Phillies as World Champions! On a smaller scale, while you are watching each game, have faith that the Phillies will win. Continue to visualize the end result of the game, the Phillies winning, while the game is being played. If each of us does our part, the universe will have no choice but to respond and manifest our deepest desire, a Philadelphia Phillies Championship!
