We Waited 14 Years For This?

Yes, we've waited 14 long years just to see our team go down 0-2 in the first round against the Rockies. Now I know I was saying that "as long as we even get to the playoffs, I'll be satisfied", but I don't believe that anymore.
When the Eagles got into the playoffs in 2000, we were just glad to see them in the playoffs again. Every year after that, we expected to win a Super Bowl. So that's how it is now. The Phillies have put themselves in a position where they have to win a World Series for us Philly fans to be satisfied, because we are not satisfied with the Eagles having no Super Bowl wins, especially because they've lost 3 conference championship games and one Super Bowl.
Now, they have to go win 2 games on the road just to stay alive, and since everyone knows that's not gonna happen, we might as well look forward to next year. Since their pitching has been horrible this year, well maybe not horrible, they were pretty good in September, but they still need to pick up some solid pitchers to compliment Cole Hamels. Jamie Moyer was inconsistent this year, and let's face it, he won't be around forever.
Adam Eaton was......well do I even have to say how bad he was this year? If we had some solid pitching, they would be unstoppable in the National League with the offense that they have. And next year I highly doubt that they will have Aaron Rowand, his .307 batting average, and his great outfielder skills. So Game 3 could be his final game in a Phillies uniform.
Or maybe they won't lose Game 3. Think about it, they are a resilient team, and they have been all season. They are not a team to just give up. Maybe Jimmy Rollins should come out and say they're the team to beat in the National League and they'll step up to the plate and win some games.
I never would've thought that they would come out and lose the first 2 games.....at home. The way that crowd was, it seemed like we would win both games. And especially in Game 2 because Jimmy Rollins hit that Home Run on the very first pitch he saw, so we were off to a good start, but Kyle Kendrick struggled and he got benched early.
Well, the Eagles have a bye week, so if the Phils lose Game 3, it's over for Philly sports. No, that's not true, the Flyers are 1-0 so far so we have something right now. I just thought the Phils would give us a better performance than they have given us because this city was so excited about them finally making it over the hump of missing the playoffs year after year.
Well, maybe it's too early to speak because anything can happen in three games. Remember this is the same team that was down 7 games in the N.L. East on September 12th and was clinching the division on September 30th with a gorgeous curveball from Brett Myers.
I don't really believe that they can win it, but hopefully (and I really hope) that they can prove me wrong because I'm still young and I haven't seen a championship in this city in my lifetime yet.
Both the Phillies and the Rockies were going through a playoff drought and I guess both teams couldn't win but that isn't an excuse to lose your first two games in your own home. And you would've thought that the Rockies would've been a little fatigued since we had an extra day of rest, but I guess Colorado carried that momentum from the regular season over to the playoffs.
But I don't want to make excuses for this team, but the Rockies shouldn't even be in the playoffs, I mean, when they won that playoff game against the Padres, the runner's hand never touched the plate. And they might have won it in extra innings but if the Padres won it in extra innings, we would be playing San Diego right now and we would have a better chance against them because we can beat Padres. Just something to think about.....
