McNabb can't ruin the Eagles' playoff run this season

Eagles fans, can you believe we are looking straight into the playoffs after what looked to be a lost season after McNabb went down? The great thing about this time when Garcia leads the Eagles into the playoffs is that McNabb won’t be coming back this season to sabotage our chances of winning. Remember back in 2002 when McNabb went down with an injury and A.J. Feely stepped right into the offense and did a great job leading the team to the playoffs, only to have McNabb come back and squeak out a win against Atlanta and then to finally lose in the NFC Championship game.

This time there will be none of that because “Our Leader” is out with a season ending knee injury and he won’t be able to make a comeback just in time for the playoffs to lose another NFC Championship, or a Super bowl if they got that far.

I know, I can hear all the McNabb fans saying I’m a moron for hating on him and that he is the best QB we have ever had in Eagles history. To all those McNabb lovers, your delusional and I believe you have a loser mentality because all McNabb has done for this team is get us close to winning but can never deliver a Super bowl. He is too busy throwing up in the big games and then lying about it later. Granted McNabb is a good QB and put up some outstanding numbers and has had great games but he chokes when it really matters and yet these Eagles teams in the past six years have won in spite of him. I believe we would have won at least one Super bowl and possibly two with the great Eagles teams we have had had it not been for McNabb running the offense so poorly in big games.

He consistently overthrows, or under throws passes to his receivers, or simply throws the ball too hard, which is un-catchable and then we blame the receiver. Now from what I have seen out of Garcia is a QB with a firm grasp of this west coast offense who accurately throws passes to his receivers so they have a good chance of handling the ball. Also, from what I have seen Garcia scrambles just as well, if not better than McNabb, and doesn’t seem to be worried about being labeled a “running QB”. He just does what needs to be done to get that first down and win the game.

Garcia has brought a grit and confidence to this team that McNabb just has never been able to do no matter how much he likes to call himself a leader; Garcia leads by example with his actions on the field, which is much different than what we see out of McNabb who constantly has to remind us that he is “our leader”. Garcia has brought this team back from the brink of a losing season and motivated these guys by his fiery play into believing that they can win. There is definitely a different, more positive feel to this offense with Garcia at the helm, opposed to having McNabb back there putting whenever things aren’t going well. Garcia’s enthusiasm has been infectious even on the defensive side of the ball because they now believe that they have a chance of winning and are swarming more on the ball. I don’t believe for one minute that if McNabb were still “leading” this team that they would be in the position that they now find themselves. My guess is they would be out of the playoff race and we would be looking forward to pitchers and catchers reporting for spring training.

Don’t fret all you McNabb lovers even after we win a Super bowl this year with Garcia; McNabb will be back next year to ruin next season. He is our $20 million QB and Jeffrey Lurie is in now way going to be paying that kind of money for McNabb to back up.

Garcia. So when McNabb is healthy next season he will again be the starter, and once again, he will go out and put up some good numbers, win a few games, but ultimately he will fade in the big games, or get injured again. With any luck, we will still have Garcia as the backup QB and when McNabb gets injured again for the 4th time in 6 seasons we will have an able QB in Jeff Garcia to step in and contend for another Super bowl.
